Antrim County through it's Housing Committee assists low income families with rehabilitation of their homes to remove existing health and safety hazards within the home.

Antrim County receives periodic grants from Michigan State Housing Development Authority for Homeowner Rehabilitation. The Antrim County Housing Committee will rehabilitate as many owner-occupied homes with funds available within Antrim County, with additional funds from Rural Development, Department of Human Services and other sources.

Antrim Housing offers 0% to 3% loans to rehabilitate your home. Some loans are deffered depending on income. Qualifications include owning and living in the home for six months, current on your mortgage, land contract, taxes and insurance. All loans are based on income being below 80% of the county's median income. The county will loan up to 100% of current equity to a maximum of $40,000.00. Additional loans and grant may be available through other agencies.

Money can be used for any health and safety issues including; septic and well replacement, roofing, windows, doors and siding. Interior work can include kitchen and bathroom updating, electrical, plumbing and furnace. replacement. Weatherization is also an important part of this program including insulation and sealing of the homes.

This program is not considered an emergency program. The process is fairly lengthy with a time frame of application to construction taking 45 to 60 days or more depending on the complexity of the project.
